What to Expect

Initial Exam

We typically see patients for the first time as a two hour consultation, which includes history, routine eye examination, sensorimotor examination of eye teaming, and eye movement coordination, visual perceptual skills, visual motor skills, summary of findings, and recommendations. A detailed report is included with this evaluation, and mailed to the patient/family within a week.

VISION THERAPY

Vision Therapy sessions are conducted in one hour time slots during which we review home activities, coach in-office activities, and assign the next weeks home activities. We try to have each patient have a designated vision therapist and time slot such as Tuesdays from 1 to 2 o'clock with Jane. Usually, the patients come in for 13 in-office vision therapy sessions, and then have a progress evaluation with Dr. Roser or Dr. Hollenbach. The average length of time for a vision therapy program runs between 4 to 6 months when the patient is seen each week.

We find our best results are obtained when we see patients each week, though there are times when this is not possible. When weekly sessions are not possible, we will see the patient as often as they can make it to the office. This usually takes longer to get optimum results.
